Monday 17 July (compulsory): Study Abroad and Exchange Welcome Day

Attendance is compulsory for all commencing Study Abroad and Exchange students. NOTE, it is not intended for international students enrolling here to study their whole degree. This day introduces you to Melbourne Global Mobility, Stop 1, and the steps required to complete your enrolment at the University of Melbourne.

You must start the day by registering.

You will be advised at registration which Melbourne Global Mobility briefing session you need to attend that morning. Melbourne Global Mobility will be hosting a BBQ for all students at lunchtime, this will be followed in the afternoon by additional sessions on enrolling your subjects, a housing information and a session on making the most of your stay in Melbourne. You should plan to be on campus until late afternoon.



You should make plans to arrive in Melbourne before Monday 17 July 2017. If you cannot arrive before Monday 17 July 2017, you must seek approval to arrive late. Requests for late arrival must be emailed to Please advise us of your intended arrival date in Melbourne and the reasons for your late arrival.

Keep in mind that orientation is compulsory and late arrivals are only approved in instances where students can demonstrate extenuating circumstances, such as a delay obtaining a student visa or for medical reasons. If you cannot arrive before semester starts, you may be asked to defer your study to the following semester. If your late arrival is approved, our office will make arrangements with you to meet with Melbourne Global Mobility to advise on next steps for completing your enrolment.

After Study Abroad and Exchange Welcome Day you will join the University Orientation which runs from 19 - 21 July 2017. During orientation you will finalise your timetable, collect your student card, and have the opportunity to participate in a range of academic and social activities. Who do I contact if I arrive before the Study Abroad and Exchange Welcome Day?

You do not need to inform us of your early arrival. Official registration will take place on the Study Abroad and Exchange Welcome Day. Earlier registration is not available.
