SAEX Briefing Day

Friday, 16 February (compulsory): Study Abroad and Exchange Briefing Day

Attendance is compulsory for all commencing Study Abroad and Exchange students. NOTE, it is not intended for full-degree international students. This day introduces you to Global Leadership and Employability, Stop 1, and the steps required to complete your enrolment at the University of Melbourne.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Wi-Fi Enabled Device (optional)

WHERE TO GO

You must start the day by registering and presenting your passport.

You will be advised at registration of the briefing venue you need to attend that morning. Global Leadership and Employability will be hosting a BBQ for all students at lunchtime, this will be followed in the afternoon by additional, optional sessions on enrolling in your subjects, a housing information session and a session on making the most of your studies in Melbourne.

 

LATE ARRIVALS

You should make plans to arrive in Melbourne before Friday 16 February, 2018. If you cannot arrive before Friday 16 February, 2018, you must request approval to arrive late. Requests for late arrival must be emailed to saex-outreach@unimelb.edu.au. Please advise us of your intended arrival date in Melbourne and the reasons for your late arrival. You may be asked to provide supporting documentation.

Orientation is compulsory and late arrivals are only approved in instances where students can demonstrate extenuating circumstances, such as a delay obtaining a student visa or for medical reasons. If you cannot arrive before semester starts, you may be asked to defer your study to the following semester. If your late arrival is approved, our office will make arrangements with you to meet with Global Leadership and Employability to advise on next steps for completing your enrolment.

If you are unexpectedly running late on Briefing day, please refer to the flyer above for information on the location of activities where you can make contact with a staff member from Global Leadership and Employability who will be able to assist you.

 

ORIENTATION 2018: MAKE THE MOST OF MELBOURNE

After the Study Abroad and Exchange Briefing Day you will be able to join the University Orientation which runs from 19 - 23 February 2018. During orientation you will finalise your timetable, collect your student card, and have the opportunity to participate in a range of academic and social activities. Who do I contact if I arrive before the Study Abroad and Exchange Briefing Day?

You do not need to inform us of your early arrival. Official registration will take place on the Study Abroad and Exchange Briefing Day. Earlier registration is not available.

If you arrive prior to the Study Abroad and Exchange Briefing Day and require assistance, please visit Stop 1 or email studyabroad-exchange@unimelb.edu.au.
